Baby It's Cold Outside...

Well, Christmas has come and gone, but we've still got some fun times ahead. To me, Christmas is right in the middle of the celebrating- NYE is around the corner and then my BIRTHDAY! YAY! So, two days at work, a relaxing weekend at home then another short work week with a new year beginning and my bday! Not too shabby. Then the "it's all over blues" sets in during the second week of Jan. It's ok though- I've got lots on tap to focus on. For one, it's resolution time- though I like to say "goals for the new year" and not "new years resolutions"...semantics! I'll share more of those in the coming month. Also, I plan to concoct another fashion challenge for myself for the month of Jan. I only have a few more days to cook something up, but I'll let you know on here. I need some winter fashion inspiration. It's so much easier and more fun to come up with creative ensembles in the warm weather. Even though I do LOVE layering and winter clothing, it's more about comfort than feeling super fashion forward. I've been trying to focus on adding some fun pieces, like today's sweater, that serve both fashion and function. It's totally warm, but the bright polka dot pattern brings some fun to a gray winter day. Any ideas on how I could challenge myself in January?!?! Let me know...

Today's ensemble:
Pants- Loft
Sweater- Old Navy
Blouse- Target
Earrings- Bauble Bar

Baby Blue?? Don't Mind if I Do...

One might think that baby blue pants should be an item worn in Spring/Summer. Or never?!  Nahhhh!! I woke up this morning and thought, "that's just what I want to wear all day today!" They are super comfy and so old, but I love them. They have held up beautifully after many years of wear! Maybe they aren't trendy or "in" per se, but I LOVE 'em! They are fun with a flowey spring top or a warm dark winter sweater. Anyway, see for yourself! I love colors! :-)

Today's ensemble:
Pants- Old Navy
Sweater- H & M
Scarf- Kohl's
Shoes- Kohl's
Earrings- Chico's

It's an Old Navy kinda day...

I didn't plan it...but I'm wearing an entire ON ensemble today! All pieces bought at different times and seasons too. Funny!

Today's ensemble:
Cropped pants: Old Navy
Blouse: Old Navy
Sweater: Old Navy
Necklace: Bauble Bar
Shoes: Nine West
Belt: Target
Earrings: Simply Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's

The necklace is super cool and NEW! Bauble Bar had 20 days of Buried Baubles during the month of Dec- meaning one awesome piece was marked down to either $10 or $20 each day. Eeeek- I definitely bought a few of those this month! I tried to stay away, but I LOVE their jewelry SO much that I couldn't pass up great deals like that. Here is a larger pic of the necklace and earring detail. Still doesn't do it justice- the necklace is 3 flaps/tiles of metal on top of one another. Totally unique and fun!

Wearing Green & White...

... in honor of the victims of the awful tragedy that happened at the Sandy Hook Elementary school on Friday, December 14th, 2012. I don't think we'll ever forget that date. So many young and beautiful lives lost in such an horrific way. I don't really have much to say today-I even had a hard time smiling in this pic knowing I picked this outfit not for fashion or fun, but in remembrance and out of respect. Interesting how fashion, as fun and silly and some think trivial, as it can be, how it can also be used to make a statement and to unite. No, I don't need a green blazer to think about those poor lives lost and families devastated, but I think a statement like a country uniting to wear the same colors shows that we are all one and we are all hurting with the town of Newtown today and for many days/weeks/months/years to come.

Today's ensemble:
Pants-Loft
Sweater- Victoria's Secret catalog
Blazker- Charlottle Russe
Necklace - H & M
Earrings- Kohl's
Boots- Nine West (can't see them- standard black boots)

I Heart Skirts with Pockets!

I have no idea why, but I just LOVE skirts that have pockets. Maybe because it is kinda rare or because it doesn't seem to make sense. Pockets on pants? Sure! Jeans? of course! A skirt? WOW-so unexpected!! Ok, I'm slightly overselling, but I really do make purchase choices (sometimes) based on little details like pockets. Today is our hospital holiday luncheon so I'm aiming to be festive! I'm not much into mixing patterns, though I love when I see others do it well. I tried today with my polka dot tights and JUMBO houndstooth print skirt.

Today's ensemble:
Skirt- Express (thrifted)
Sweater- H & M
Tights- Old Navy
Boots- Issac Mizrahi for Target
Necklace- Calamarie http://www.calamarie.com/ (really cool sustainable jewelry made in Columbia. This necklace is made of old coffee grounds and dried berries! Hard to see the gorgeous details, but her pieces are to die for!!)
Earrings- Old Navy
watch- Timex Weekender

Hodge Podge Post

Today's pic is from my ensemble today and the other two are from the last week and are "action shots"! Ha! :-) I'm realizing that it is so much more fun dressing for warm weather! Though I wrote about loving layers and boots (and I do), when the COLD of winter hits and all I want to wear is a snuggie, it's hard to put together super fun and creative outfits! And this difficulty is more so for work-related dressing. I really do enjoy putting together weekend outfits more, as jeans are a fav staple this time of year and not something I can wear to work much. It's now when I need to inspire myself with a challenge. I'm thinking of doing another month-long challenge in Jan, but not quite sure what angle to take. Stay tuned...and if you have any ideas, leave me a message!
