A Cardi for Outerwear...in January!

This is ALL I wore to work today! No coat, gloves, or hat. Ok, I never wear hats (hats do a real number on my curls!), but still! I am LOVING this random heat wave. Honestly ya'll, what I'm not loving is this challenge! I have to be honest...though I love scarves, I DO NOT want to wear one each day. I guess I've proven that I can, but I certainly am way over it! When I do another challenge, I'll have to do a better job of thinking ahead.  I've got 3 more days...technically, yes,  Jan ends tomorrow, but I added on two extra days- one for Jan 1st where I was in comfies all day and the second was for a sick day I had. Today's ensemble includes a bit of spring in my robins egg blue pants and my short sleeve peplum top! I hope that peplum sticks around for a while. I do love it! Sometimes I go overboard, buying multiple versions of something I love and when it's a fleeting trend that can be dangerous and expensive! I try to only buy one or two of the said trend and see where it goes. If it's around for a year or more, making its way into various seasons, then it's safe to expand a little. I did this with my bright skinny jeans collection. I will write a post on that soon and post several pics of my skinny ensembles. My collection has really grown as this tend is hanging on...and I LOVE it!!

On to today's ensemble:
Pants- Old Navy
Top- Elle for Kohl's
Cardi- H & M
Scarf- airport store Bijoux- something like that! ;-)
Shoes- Kenneth Cole
Bracelet- Bauble Bar
Earrings- Elle for Kohl's

Sprockets!

Do you remember Mike Myers from SNL as Dieter, the host of the German talk show Sprockets?! If not, totally look it up on YouTube- in fact, click here. It was a totally different SNL era and one that I loved! Anyway, I feel like Dieter today because of all black, form fitting attire. ;-) Also, they did a crazy little dance on that show so I'm busting a move, Sprockets-style in my pic! We are having a crazy, two day warm snap (it's like 60 out!) so I decided to wear some peep toes. BTW, I didn't intend to be so Sprocket-y, and this AM I left the house with a army green jacket on, but it was TOO hot. It'll find its way into another outfit soon I'm sure!  On to the ensemble:

Pants- Old Navy Skinnies
Top- Old Navy
Scarf- Kohl's
Shoes- Nine West
Earrings- Kohl's

Now bust a move Sprockets-style! It's sunny and 60! WOO HOO!! Have a good one all...

Hello Monday + Weekend Recap!

Adieu weekend, bienvennue Monday! Here's my weekend recap since I am AWFUL at actually posting over the weekend! UGH- sorry! I vow to do better! I just feel so technology-phobic on the weekends. Don't get me wrong, I've got my iPhone and iPad usually within close reach, but the computer repels me! Esp now with the ease of getting my necessary internet transactions done on my iPad (FB checking, looking something up, etc)...it just doesn't feel the same as getting on the computer. Being on the computer for work all week makes me not want to do anything remotely related on the weekends. I think this is good. I know there are folks who obsessively check work email Sat and Sun and as much as I am devoted to my job, I'm more devoted to my LIFE on the weekends. I will try to always keep this balance as I try to live with the attitude of "working to live" and not "living to work".  On to the fashion...

Winter Wonderland

Ok, so it's still cold, like really REALLY cold. And yes, I know it's winter so it's supposed to be cold, but come on! As I mentioned in yesterday's post, it really doesn't get "teens" cold here. Anyway, my ensemble yesterday proved to be a very  DUMB match for the weather. My little ankles and feet were freezing all day! My fault for making a poor outfit choice, I know. I'm all about suffering for fashion- within reason! It also didn't help that the heat in my office is broken. My first relief of the day was blasting the heat in my car on the way home! When I woke up this morning to a snowy surprise (nothing crazy accumulations-wise, but still much more than I was expecting which was NOTHING), I literally wondered if I could rock sweat pants with my scarf of the day. Alas, I could not, but I could go for a snow day casual look. I'm toasty from my toes to my neck today!

Today's ensemble:
Cords- Old Navy
Top- Old Navy
Sweater- Kohl's
Scarf- Kohl's
Bangles- Forever 21

Neck Warm, Ankles COLD!

I wanted to show a little ankle with my cropped pants today. Usually I'm fine with this, even during the cold winter months. However, I didn't anticipate how different "teens" cold (like maybe 15 or so degrees this AM) feels compared to 30s cold. Quite a difference! We live in VA, technically the south (though one of these days I'm convinced NOVA will be its own state)- we aren't used to "teens" cold. Anyway, walking to and fro my car this morning was all I needed to feel the chill of the day. Thank goodness I don't walk to work. I'd like to think that if I did, I'd be much more practical in my work attire- at least my "commuting" attire". :-) So, my LARGE scarf choice is keeping my neck all toasty, but my cropped pants and pumps are leaving my ankles out in the cold...literally! Stay warm all!

TGIF!!

I realized that I was wearing lots of pants this month so today I figured I'd be daring in a dress. I do love wearing dresses and skirts, but think that I have been more comfortable pairing scarves with pant ensembles. SO happy it's Friday and ready for the long weekend ahead!! I'll probably slack with updating here, but will be sure to post a weekend retrospective on Sun or Mon! I've just been on the go so much these past few weekends and I really never log into the compute from home. I will make a point to this weekend though! Happy weekend all!!!

Snow Day!

Well...not yet, but snow is on the way. And it's my fav kind...just a dusting. Enough to be pretty, but not enough to cause mayhem (hopefully)! Getting dressed, I was in a cozy mood so skinnies, boots and a sweater, with my scarf of the day felt just right! I'm in the office all day, so I can be a little more causal. I'm having fun finding ways to tie scarves that are different. There are so many out there, but not every scarf ties so easily in the way they do in the tutorials; if it's too long, short, skinny, or fat, they don't look as perfect as they do online. Most days I try a few before I settle on one. Today's tie is an infinity tie. I LOVE it bc I don't own an infinity scarf. Lo and behold...I can make one myself!! So easy and adds to the coziness since it hugs up close to my neck keeping me warm all day!

Today's ensemble:
Pants-Old Navy
Boots- DSW
Sweater- Old Navy
Scarf- bday gift from Allie (thanks friend!)
Earrings- Charming Charlies

What's Black and White and Red All Over?

ME! Well, today that is! I love a good monochromatic look with a pop of color. I added in the red in a few places since my outfit has a lot of black. You know me, I LOVE colors! I know someone in fashion once said to look at what you're wearing and remove one accessory, but I go with my gal, Coco (Chanel, that is) and live by the motto of you can never have too many baubles! Sometimes I channel her with oodles of strands of pearls and remember how fabulous she was. She would certainly be guest of honor at my "dead or alive celebrity dinner party"! I've also included pics from over the weekend and yesterday, I've been nursing some icky virus so I did not don a scarf on Monday while I was at home sleeping, thus I will add on an additional day to the challenge!

You Win Some, You Lose Some.

So is the life of the curly haired girl. I just felt the need to draw attention to my hair as it has a life of it's own today. Took a few pics after "joojjing" (how do you spell that word?!) and still, the locks are wild. Oh well! Happy Friday all!!!

Make Up Day

Here are the pics from both today and yesterday. I was running around for work yesterday and not in the office so I was able to be super casual and comfy. We had some fun on FB with the pic I took at home since our Christmas tree is still up in the background! It's coming down soon, but it's always such a sad time. :-( I love the festive decor that the holiday season brings and while many folks go all out for many holidays around the calendar, I typically only really decorate any differently for Christmas. Though, I was put to the challenge of keeping the tree up and decorating for each season/holiday. While I do LOVE this idea, I'll have to invest some time and $$ in purchasing more themed decorations. Could be a good project for 2014 though...buy the "supplies" this year and be ready to go post Christmas next year. We'll see! If I do it, I'll blog about it of course! ;-) Heading out into the world today so this will be brief. Here are today and yesterday's ensembles:

Quick and Casual

I'm working today, but am out and about and not in the office. I'm much more casual and comfy-wearing jeans!! Yay! Technical issues are not allowing me to add a pic. :-( I'll post today's pic and tomorrow's on my post tomorrow. Check me out on FB if you get a chance.

Mad Men Inspired...

Well, kinda...Mad Men and the FAB women on that show certainly got me thinking! I didn't quite meet the mark, but this is as close as I can come with my modern wardrobe. I realized that I don't have a lot of small, square scarves- which is mainly what they wore. I thought I had at least a couple. No dice! Maybe something to add to my collection?!  Here is my nod to the rise of the working woman!
Today's ensemble:
Skirt- Old Navy
Blouse- Old Navy
Tights- Simply Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's
Scarf- Ford Warrior (breast cancer awareness) scarf from 2005 (LOVE these scarves and the cause they support!)
Bracelets-Pink- Kohl's, black/silver- Bauble Bar
Earrings- Simply Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's

One VERY important missing accessory...my rings! EEEKK! Left the house in a hurry and forgot all of them! Sorry love! :-(

Manic Monday

So, giving your self a fashion challenge of any sort really removes that option of just "throwing something on" in the morning! This is good! It keeps ya on your toes! I've always had the best of intentions to pick out my outfits the night before so that is one less thing to do in the morning, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. After being out later than usual on a Sunday night watching football with friends, I said "ehh, I'll do it in the AM!" Not advisable. I'm so much foggier and less motivated in the morning. I stand there in my closet looking at these colorful items like they are foreign objects that I can't seem to figure out. So, I vow to go back to being diligent about picking my ensembles before laying my head down to rest. Here is today's ensemble:

Pants- Loft
T-Old Navy
Blazer- LC by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Scarf- ??? possibly Old Navy
Bangles- H & M
Earrings- Simply Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's
Watch- Timex Weekender
Shoes- Target

Until tomorrow....(which I'll pick out tonight!)

Weekend Wear

Since I had a fabulously full weekend of fun (don't cha just love alliteration?!), I didn't take the time to get online to post my weekend ensembles. They were posted on FB so that I was kept accountable, but I figured I could wait until today to post on here. I have to say, the one thing that I didn't really anticipate with the scarf challenge is the fact that I enjoy pairing scarves with my more casual outfits way more than my work outfits. I don't know, they just seem to "go" better. I enjoyed putting together my Sat and Sun ensembles since I wore jeans both days. I find this comical since scarves used to be a part of a working woman's staple back in the day (think Mad Men). However, they really have come back with a gusto but in a different way. Scarves are more a casual and fashionable accessory- like a large bib necklace, and not so much a proper lady neck adornment! I'm loving it! Maybe I can use the ladies who paved the way for working women as inspiration for my work inspired looks. Stay tuned as that will be a challenge within this challenge! Weekend ensembles:

It's My Birthday!!

First of all, I have to say that I'm experiencing some bday technical difficulties! Sorry for the HUMONGO pic of me (below), but unless I leave it in its original formatted size, it gets all distorted! So there  you go- me, larger than life! ;-)

OK- back to the post... YAAAAAYYYYYYY! I know some folks hate bdays but I LOVE them! ;-) I just love celebrating another year of life and feeling all the love from my friends and family. Fun! So, even though it's my bday, I'm at work (no fair!), but I did think about my outfit with my day in mind. I wore my new fav shoes that are another installment in the hubby Christmas present bunch! LOVE these SKY HIGH platforms from Sole Society! You can't really tell but the heel has a somewhat tortoise shell look.Fun! Good day to all!!!!

Day 2- Scarfapalooza!

You'd think I'd never wear khaki's since it's my health fair "uniform", but there are just some looks best completed by a good ol' classic...the khaki pant. I like these bc they are a little more chic since they are wide legged.  Also, there is just something that is perfect about the color combo of orange, navy, and khaki! Very all American or something. I love it! I've not shown my shoes since my pants skim right on the toe of them, but you'll see them soon! They are new- part of my Xmas goodies from the hubs. They are patent, blue pumps and I LOVE them! So...stay tuned.

Today's ensemble:

New Day-New Challenge....

The Jan 2013 challenge is...SCARVES! I will wear a different scarf, possibly a different way (though I'm not promising this since I don't know if it's really possible) every day for the month of Jan. AND since I didn't post/start this challenge yesterday since I was pretty much in a version of PJs all day I will end on Feb 1. I will be posting here everyday and on FB, just like the NORA project. I haven't thought of a catchy name yet, so I think I'll keep it simple and familiar by calling it The NORA Project Take 2. Here are the parameters of the challenge:
1. Wear a different scarf as a part of my ensemble every day of Jan. Wearing a scarf with my coat only is not meeting the challenge.
2. Attempt to wear the scarf a different way each day.
3. While the focus is on the scarf, I will do my best to wear different outfits each day as well. I may repeat something (shoes especially!) but I will not wear the same outfit twice.

Today's ensemble:
Dress- Old Navy
Jacket- H & M
Scarf- Old Navy
Belt- Target
Tights- Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's
Booths- Issac Mizrahi for Target
Earrings- Silpada
Necklace- 16th bday day gift from mom and dad- my first diamond. ;-)

Here we go!!! Who's with me?!?!

Until tomorrow...
