Fashion CPR!

I'm not in the middle of a challenge or anything, but I did happen to re-wear the same shoes I wore yesterday! They are one of my fav pairs and SO went with this outfit this AM. So, I thought "ehhh, what the heck?!" I'm also in one of my bizzare-o color loops where I tend to gravitate toward the same colors during a chunk of time. For the past few days it's been navy and red. Even over the weekend I wore my red and white maxi (I'll post a pic with my weekend outfit recap). Tomorrow I'll aim for something totally opposite like lime green or something. So, on to the Fashion CPR  title I gave this post. Today I am wearing another Dress Barn  find! I'd like to give that store an image makeover. They used to be such a fuddy-duddy store (yes, DB it's true) and now (some of) the clothes are much cuter and on trend, but I think may people avoid it like the plague bc...well....it sounds...tacky! What an awful name! Who wants to shop in a barn? I mean really?! So, DB...call your girl and I'll hook you up with a new name and image. It seriously needs to be refreshed. I bought a really cute polka dot blazer form there as well that I will wear soon (on a day that it is less than 90 out). Here goes...

Today's ensemble:
Dress- Dress Barn (and for 50% off! Score!!)
Shoes- Sole Society
Bangles- Bauble Bar/gift from friend
Necklace- Old Navy
Earrings- Kohl's

Have you ever given a store a second chance in hopes that it had been revived after a very dormant fashion era?! Check out Dress Barn- you won't be disappointed!!

AMUUURRRICA!

Sometimes you just gotta go for it! You know, like really go for it! To me, this means wearing something maybe a little too....something...simply because I like it! It may not be right on trend or funky enough, and maybe a slight bit too matchy matchy, but when I woke up thinking of this scarf (please tell me some of you wake up thinking of clothing), I decided to go all out patriotic. Yesterday was Memorial Day after all! Mom and I had a mini shopping excursion and we found these fun, summery, nautical, patriotic scarves in Dress Barn of all places. A location with a very unfortunate name, but sometimes some good finds! Hope your long weekends were full of fun and laughter taking moments to remember why we recognize memorial day and being thankful that many are willing to give their lives to protect our freedom! AMMUUURRIICA!!

Skirt- Old Navy
Chambray shirt- thrifted in AZ
Scarf- Dress Barn
Shoes- Sole Society
Bangle- Bauble Bar
Belt- Kohl's
Earrings- Simply Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's

Oh and P.S. I will be posting some weekend ensembles that I didn't take the time to shoot this weekend. I need to wrangle the hubby for a little post work photo montage of this weekend's looks. Ha!
Until tomorrow...

When Life Gives You Lemons...

...wear a lemonade colored blazer! Life really hasn't given me lemons, but it is cold and rainy so I needed to bring some sunshine to the day! I am in L-O-V-E with my new electric lemon blazer from The Gap. I recently ordered it online, but I don't see it anymore. :-( Possibly in stores? I also got it in a pretty coral color. So this yellow might be a tad much for some, but it is the perfect bright, canary yellow. I would not call it neon like a few of the reviews did. You know me, I am NOT afraid of color! I've also been wanting to wear these super fun patterned skinnies from ON for a while now. I got them in B & W as witnessed today (don't see them online anymore) and in the green print that is available. SO cute and fun! Adds a lot of personality to a work ensemble. I also thought that they worked well with a bright color like my sunny blazer. One is bold in color, and one in pattern. It is just the right way to be a little wild without going overboard.
Today's ensemble:
Blazer- The Gap
Skinnies- Old Navy
Shoes- Elle for Kohl's
Tee- Old Navy
Necklace- Zodiac sign necklace from an online boutique (can't rem.)
Belt- Old Navy
Earrings- Kohl's

Happy LONG weekend and Memorial day all. I'll be enjoying time with family and friends at BBQs and the pool, while remembering what the day truly represents- celebrating those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. God Bless America and all of our past, present, and future service men and women!

Until tomorrow lovlies...

Pink Pants!

Pin ItHere is yet another outfit featuring my very FAV Old Navy Rock Star Skinnies! They are still on sale folks! Go check them out- lots of colors to choose from. REMINDER- they do run small! Once I found my size in these skinnies I haven't looked back since, but it took a few tries. To give you an idea...I usually wear a 2/4/small in Old Navy bottoms, in these I wear an 8. I would assume that most folks can easily go up two sizes for them to fit well and flatter your figure! Try some! Also, ladies...don't think you have to be tall with long legs to wear skinnies. I am neither. I am only 5'5" barefoot and have a freakishly long torso and short-ish legs. I promise you won't be disappointed! Have you ever avoided a trend or style just because you assumed it wouldn't work on you? You never know until you try, right?! And with the great price tag on these, you can't go wrong! Be bold, be brave, go SKINNIES!
 Today's ensemble:
Skinnies- DUH..do I have to say it?! Old Navy
Blouse- Old Navy
Shoes- Elle for Kohl's
Bangles- Bauble Bar plus small gold from a friend
Earrings- Bauble Bar
Necklace- It's a teeny tiny lotus flower from The Nest Egg (boutique in Fairfax Corner, Fairfax, VA)

Angry Mother Nature

And tragedy hits again. I feel so badly for the poor people of Moore, Oklahoma today. I know that my fashion musings are SO not important in the grand scheme of things. Many people from Moore lost everything including loved ones. They will be happy knowing folks are alive and having the support of a community to rebuild together. I'm posting today just to keep up with my outfits, but I do so with a heavy heart full of gratitude for all that I have in my life- people, material, and otherwise. Sending prayers to the folks in OK.

Yellow Eyelet

Ahhhh eyelet...the material of my childhood dresses! It is so whimsical and brings back memories of 6 year old birthday parties in the summertime. It also makes me think of the 80 and Laura Ashely (though I never was much of a L.A. fan). Much like lace, eyelet never really goes away it just pulls back from the spotlight until it's time to resurface. I've seen much more of it in this year's spring and summer collections. However, I debated about buying eyelet due to the childhood nod, but I'm so glad I went with it! I've been wanting a yellow dress for a while and the material and skirt of this one really looks fun and playful. The only thing that would make it better would be some pockets! You know how I feel about dresses with pockets! So, thanks to my fav, Old Navy for closing yet another fashion hole in my wardrobe. Now I'm debating about getting it in white since I've been looking for a fun white summer dress for the last two years...hmmmm....decisions decisions!

Floral Meets Tribal

Can you believe that I've had this dress since last year and today is the first time I am wearing it?! Found it on the Target clearance rack and loved it but wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it. Also, I think I like it even more now. Does that ever happen to you? You buy something and let it sit in your closet, passing over it time and time again until one day, you're in full on LOVE with the item! It might sound silly, but I think clothes "call" (not literally of course- I'm not crazy!) to you so that you don't miss them in the moment, but maybe you aren't quite ready to integrate them into your wardrobe. At any rate, this is fun bc of the vibrant colors and mixed print! I love that it has flowers as well as some tribal/southwest type shapes at the bottom. I'm also jazzed about wearing this without a cardi on the weekend this summer as I LOVE the criss cross straps across the back! FUN! Details like that sometimes push me from contemplating purchasing an item to making the decision!

Today's ensemble:
Dress- Target
Cardi- Target
Shoes- Boutique Gossip on 23rd (Crystal City, VA)
Necklace- Bauble Bar
Bracelets- Bauble bar (large bangle) and World Market

I LOVE ON Skinnies!

I was thinking about exactly how  many pairs of the Old Navy Rock Star Skinnies I have...the answer is A LOT! Here's a sampling of some of the outfits I've created with them. SO many! I wear them a lot so these are by no means all the ways I've worn them. They are SO versatile! I wear them to work quite a bit, out on the weekends running errands/hanging with friends, as well as a bit dressier to events like concerts! I just wanted to have a little fashion confessional to show you HOW MANY I own. LOVE them!!! P.S. I JUST ordered two more pairs (fuchsia and deep teal) since they are on a super sale ($19.00!!!) right now!

Literally the colors of the rainbow! Whoa! I've got two pairs that I just added (about a month ago) to the collection that are patterned. I will wear them soon! Super fun!

Out With The Old and In With the New!

For some reason, these pants make me SO happy. The color, the fact that they are my FAV Old Navy Rock Star Skinnies AND the fact that they very closely mimic a pair of blue pants that I've had to let go of recently. They were stained beyond repair and even after the magic touch of my mom (the laundry whisperer- I always ask for her help with tough stains) they are not salvageable. Don't you hate when that happens? Something you love gets damaged and you have to get rid of it?! A pair of blue pants that I've worn several times on this blog, were damaged by oil soaked, parking garage rain. I thought, "no biggie, I can wash them". Uh no. You can't wash out oil mixed with rain from a pair of light blue pants. SO SAD! Oh well, out with the old an in with the new and similar, right?

Today's ensemble:
Skinnies- Old Navy (I'm Obsessed!)
Blouse- Old Navy
Shoes- Alloy (they have a wedge heel)
Bangles- Bauble Bar
Necklace- Kohl's
Earrings- Kohl's

It Ain't Easy Being Green

I'm usually contrast-y kinda gal, not a monochromatic one. However, this AM for some reason I felt the need to pull together a few hues of green from my closet. Not quite sure why...sometimes the clothes just call to you! This is where I ended up and I'm pretty pleased. I threw in the leopard shoes for a little extra kick and kept my neck and wrists clean and clear as to not over do it. Chanel told us to remove one thing (accessory) before you leave the house- keeping her advice in mind, I just didn't add anything besides my fun earrings, ring, and belt. You'll also see yesterday and Sunday's ensembles as I was too crazed to post yesterday. I'm heading out of town tomorrow to attend a  fitness conference. I may or may not post. Since I'll be comfy cozy in my workout gear (although still uber stylish, I might add:-)), I may skip it and resume when I return on Sunday. We'll see!

Inspired Outfit...

I love it when other fashion bloggers that I admire unknowingly inspire my outfit choices. It can be such fun to have so many great sources of inspiration to go to when you are feeling over or underwhelmed by your closet. Today I can thank Kendi from Kendi Everyday for my work outfit inspiration! I loved her combo of colors and thought "I have some very similar pieces that I can work with here"! I love the sheer blouse she's wearing, but I had nothing that even slightly mimicked it so I went with my ol ivory blazer that I love this time of year. Also, my shoes today are ones I bought at the end of summer last year and I've been dying to give them a whirl! Today is their unveiling...what do you think?! FUN fun fun! Here goes...
Today's ensemble:
Skinnies- Old Navy (of course) they are actually a dark olive though they look brown here.
Tank- Old Navy
Blazer- LC by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's

They Don't Call Me Jessica Messica for Nothin'...

I swear, if I'm eating something, anything, it somehow is magnetically drawn to my clothing. Without FAIL! I can be as careful as can be, but something flings, falls, slaps, drops, plops or smears on my clothing. Usually right FRONT and CENTER on my top, but sometimes in a more inconspicuous area. What's really great is when I'm eating one of my fav Kashi granola bars when I'm driving to or from a work appt and one of the teeny tiny dark chocolate chips that are somehow loose throughout the whole darn thing falls between my legs without me noticing and then melts into my ass! Lovely, now it looks like I've had an itty bitty accident. Also, once said stain has occurred I try to get it out and have NO LUCK! EVER. Everyone else can get any old stain out- coffee, chocolate, red wine, etc, but me, nope! I've tried shout wipes, tide pens, using Dawn (the kitchen soap), water, club soda, etc...WHY!!!!??? They always stay put and then have that characteristic big stain circle around them, highlighting them even more! Sheesh...can't a girl get a break?! The reason for my self deprecating rant is that today's ensemble has been soiled by a lovely oil stain from the spring veggie pesto pasta I had at lunch. FABULOUS. Anyway, here's my look...let's turn this into where's waldo...can you spy the stain?! Good day all!!

Today's ensemble:
Skinnies- Old Navy
Blouse- Old Navy
Necklace- Bauble Bar
Bangles- gold from a friend and enamel from Bauble Bar
Earrings- Charming Charlies
Shoes- Just FAB (and THAT they are! LOVE THEM!)
